5. Abstract:

The first part of the talk will introduce some of the recent research topics of the data analysis group. As a basis, we will review the main ideas of topological data analysis (TDA) which emphasizes the shape of data as a source for hidden intelligence. We will highlight topological combinatorics as an emerging methodology for data analysis, integrating topological insight and combinatorial precision. Several applications will be presented to showcase promising ideas. The second part of the talk will outline a current project concerning a fraud detection system for the financial industry.
